Job Summary: Under the supervision of year-round staff, responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. Responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of group participants. Assists in maintaining the interior and exterior of the facility. Assists with summer program lunches and snacks served daily.

Essential Functions of the

Position:

Assist with Summer Camp Programing (85%):  

o   Assist with writing and implementing a weekly schedule for the camp group. 

o   Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week to include activities for time spent on the bus. 

o   Identify and respond to camper behavior issues. 

o   Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter. 

o   Communicate with parents about participant's experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership. 

o   Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance. 

o   Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program. 

o   Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas, including, but not limited to, being responsible for campers' safety and their whereabouts at all times. 

 

Assist with Community Center Food Programs (10%):  

o   Assist with the set-up, serving, and clean-up of the summer lunch and snack programs. 

o   Participate in food safety program and comply with food safety guidelines.

 

Maintain the Upkeep of Building/Grounds (5%):  

o   Inspect and maintain the exterior and interior of the building facility to maintain a safe environment for all campers.  

o   Remove trash from the playground and campus grounds.  

o   Sweep and mop floors as needed. 

o   Wipe down tables and put tables and chairs up each day.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Inservice Training (Required):   May 27th– 30th, 2025, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

 

Summer Camp Program:   June 2nd– August 1st, 2025

Camp runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM.  Camp Counselors are assigned to one of the following shifts each week:

1)     7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

2)     8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

3)     9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

4)     10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

 

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour, paid through a temporary staffing agency.

Minimum Job Requirements:

·   Must be 18 years of age or older as of June 2, 2025

·   High school diploma OR High School Senior meeting the age requirement above.

· Physical Demands:  Constantly requires hearing, vision, and talking. Frequently requires carrying, fine dexterity, handling/grasping, and standing. Occasionally requires lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, and walking/running. Rarely requires twisting, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, and stooping, kneeling, balancing, and using foot controls. Medium strength demands include exerting up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and 20-50 pounds occasionally.

·   Must pass a background check and drug screen.

·   Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the first week of employment (training provided).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·   Experience working in the recreation field.

·   First Aid and CPR certified.
