From volunteering to attending the kick-off event to shopping the free sale, here’s how you can support the Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale.
This is big, really big…and good, and cheap. The 23rd annual Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale, is coming up Aug. 8-11 at McAlister Square.
The sale, featuring thousands of donated books (last year’s sale featured 100,000+ books), is Greenville Literacy Association’s (GLA) largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit’s mission of “enriching our community by increasing the literacy + employability of our citizens.”
Here’s what you can expect + how you can get involved.
Volunteer
Support the sale by filling its last few open volunteer spots. Open spots include:
- Book Sale Setup | Wednesday, Aug. 7 | Place donated books from boxes on to sale tables.
- Sale Day Helper | Saturday, Aug. 10 | Help keep your assigned section stocked and organized.
- Clean Up | Sunday, Aug. 11 | Pack unsold books and load boxes onto pallets.
Attend the kick-off party
Tickets are on sale now for Thursday night’s kick-off party. For $50 (or $90 for two), your ticket gets you early access to shop the sale as you sip on drinks and listen to live music.
Shop the sale
The sale runs Saturday, Aug. 10, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. + Sunday, Aug. 11, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Entry is free. Pro tip: Come prepared to walk away with your findings by having a box or bag handy.
How to donate
The deadline has passed to donate your used books for this year’s sale, but keep an eye on GLA’s donation page to find out when to donate for the 2025 sale.
