City contractors are now on their second pass of debris pickup, with stump-splitting and collection also underway.
Since Hurricane Helene, crews have:
- Collected more than 325,000 cubic yards of vegetative waste
- Picked up more than 6,000 curbside loads
- Ground 88,000 cubic yards of debris into mulch
Residents should note that waste collection will shut down from Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) until Monday, Dec. 9. These 11 days off will give crews a break, while providing residents time to collect remaining debris and move it to the curb.
Contractors will begin their final pass on Monday, Dec. 9. There will be no call backs after the final pass is complete and a street declared finished. After contractors finish all streets, residents must return to the six-inch diameter and six-foot-long yard waste rule for collection. Anything larger than our maximum will be the resident’s responsibility.
