Recycling is collecting items that otherwise would be thrown away and turning them into new products.

Recycle Right SC is an outreach campaign developed to provide information on the how, what, where, and why of recycling. The campaign – created in partnership between the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and PalmettoPride – is designed to engage, educate, and encourage residents, businesses, schools, and others to recycle. The ultimate goal is to recover as much material as possible. Learn more about PalmettoPride below.

Why recycle? Recycling conserves natural resources, saves energy, provides raw material to manufacturers to make new products, creates jobs, and much more. Learn more here.

What and where? Each of South Carolina’s 46 counties has recycling programs, as well as many cities and towns. Find your community’s program here.

How? Recycling Right means only placing items in the bin that are accepted in your program and prepared properly. Wrong or improperly prepared items – called contamination – can harm your recycling program. Learn more about recycling right here.
